The Residential Tenancies Act is the legislation that currently governs landlord and tenant law in Alberta. The Act came into force in November 2004 and sets out the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants in Alberta.
This course has been designed to guide both new and experienced property owners, managers , employees and real estate investors in developing their professional skills and becoming familiar with the laws governing the fundamentals of the Residential Tenancies Act in Alberta.

This is not currently an accredited course.
Yes, you can log in and out of the course as many times as necessary in order to complete your training. When you log back into the course, you will be brought back to the lesson index that will outline your progress. You have six months to complete the course.
If you fail to complete the course within the specified six month period, your login and password will become inactive. You will be required to register to take the program again.
Please visit the home page and click the forgot password link under the student login area. Enter your username or email in the screen that follows and your reset password will be emailed to you.
No. Questions answered throughout the course do not count towards the final mark. The final exam will be the determining factor in a pass/fail.
A passing grade for this course is 80%.
If you fail the exam (less than 80%), then you can try to write the exam again. If you fail the second time, you must re-enroll in the course.
Once you complete the course, a .pdf document will be made available for download through your lessons index. This document will include your final mark and certificate. The certificate includes your name, the date you completed the course and ARLA’s Executive Director’s digital signature.
